Enfield has seen a general decrease in overall crime rates, according to a report presented to the Safer Neighbourhood Board. However, the figures also indicate a slight rise in robberies, which are being linked to drug-related activity, theft, and organised crime.
During a meeting on Monday, January 12, 2026, Chief Inspector Rob Gibbs shared that overall crime had reduced compared to the previous year, with November and December showing a notable drop in cases. Neighbourhood crime, including vehicle theft and shoplifting, experienced a 25% decrease. Despite these positive trends, robberies saw a slight increase of between 1-5%. The Criminal Investigation Department (CID) is supporting investigations into robberies involving mobile gangs and transport routes.

Chief Inspector Gibbs stated that efforts are being made to target prolific offenders, with links identified between drug-related activity, theft, and organised crime. The Pisces initiative has contributed to reductions in burglary and vehicle-related crimes, with over a thousand arrests and numerous drug-related operations carried out as part of its remit.
A heatmap of reported crime across the borough highlighted Upper Edmonton, Ponders End, and Enfield Town as areas with the highest incident rates. Southgate and Palmers Green were also noted, with retail crime being a significant contributing factor in these locations. Crimes within the Edmonton Green and Upper Edmonton wards accounted for approximately a quarter of all borough crime.

Chief Inspector Gibbs emphasised the importance of community reporting, as crime statistics only reflect recorded incidents. Further details on the board's discussions can be found in the Minutes Safter Neighbourhood Board v2.
