The future of the Enfield Safer Neighbourhood Board (SNB) hangs in the balance as the Mayor's Office for Policing and Crime (MOPAC) conducts a review of its funding. MOPAC is currently reviewing the funding for the SNB, with the potential implication that only the administration grant for hosting and minuting meetings may continue to be provided. The board, which met on Monday, 12th January 2026, was informed of this uncertainty.

Despite the uncertainty surrounding its funding, the board is committed to operating as usual until further notice. The Enfield SNB is considered 'well-run compared to other boroughs' due to several positive developments. These include the creation of a dedicated website, a quick guide for new Chairs, established Terms of Reference, a WhatsApp group for Chairs to facilitate communication, and the provision of feedback forms to the Police. Specific metrics used for this assessment were not detailed in the meeting information.

The possibility of making meetings hybrid to increase attendance from Ward Chairs was also discussed. Councillor Chris Dey has agreed to raise this proposal with Enfield Council. Additionally, Stephen Elston from Oakwood Ward will be contacting Jonathan Toy, Head of Community Safety, regarding an issue with squatters.
