Harrow Council's Governance, Audit, Risk Management and Standards Committee has approved the Corporate Anti-Fraud Annual Plan for 2026/27, aiming to bolster proactive measures against fraud.
The plan, presented by Justin Phillips, Corporate Anti-Fraud Manager, will focus on enhancing proactive testing in areas identified as high-risk for fraud, complementing existing reactive referral systems. It also introduces designated single points of contact for traditionally high-fraud risk areas to foster a more collaborative approach to fraud awareness.
A new key performance indicator has been established, requiring fraud reports to be issued within 10 working days of an investigation's completion. The plan aligns with the Local Government Fraud Strategy and takes into account national fraud trends.
The committee reviewed and approved the Corporate Anti-Fraud Annual Plan 2026/27 during their meeting on Wednesday, 15 April 2026.
