Southwark Council is considering a proposal for a new adult gaming centre on Southwark Park Road. Luxury Leisure has applied for a premises licence under the Gambling Act 2005 for Admiral, Unit 1, 193-221 Southwark Park Road, London SE16 3TU.
The application was discussed at the Licensing Sub-Committee meeting on Thursday, 3 July 2025, chaired by Councillor Renata Hamvas. The committee is responsible for making a decision on the application.
Luxury Leisure, described in the Public reports pack as a national operator with extensive experience, intends to operate the adult gaming centre under the name Admiral. The company already has several locations in Southwark through its sister company, Talarius Limited. According to their application, Luxury Leisure plans to close its existing site at 206 Southwark Park Road before opening the new premises.
The application states that the premises are:
located on the ground floor of a three storey building with residential floors above, in a busy high street among mixed uses including retail.
The Public reports pack indicates that the application does not include specific hours of operation, nor does it permit the sale of alcohol.
During the consultation period, the council received 40 representations. However, 37 were rejected because they were submitted after the consultation deadline. The remaining three representations raised concerns about potential crime and disorder and the negative impact on vulnerable individuals. These representations were deemed borderline in validity and were sent to the applicant.
The Public reports pack includes a map showing the location of the premises. It also notes the presence of another adult gaming centre, Admiral, at 206 Southwark Park Road. The Southwark Council Statement of Gambling Licensing Policy 2025-2028 will be used to guide the sub-committee's decision, ensuring considerations are made in line with the Gambling Act 2005.
The Licensing Sub-Committee was reminded of its duty under section 17 Crime and Disorder Act 1998 to prevent crime and disorder in the borough when making its decision.
