Islington's Planning Committee has confirmed the political balance and membership of its two Planning Sub-Committees, with the Green Party securing two seats on each. The decisions were made during a meeting on Monday, June 1, 2026.

Each sub-committee will comprise five councillors, with three seats allocated to the Labour Group and two to the Green Group, reflecting the overall political composition of the council. This allocation adheres to the Local Government and Housing Act 1989 and the Local Government (Committees and Political Groups) Regulations 1990.

Planning Sub-Committee A will be chaired by Labour Councillor Kane Emerson, alongside Labour councillors Martin Klute and Maia Hamilton. They will be joined by Green councillors Sheridan Kates and Jonathan Ward.

Planning Sub-Committee B will be chaired by Labour Councillor Toby North, with Labour colleagues Claire Jeapes and Joe Peck. Green councillors Sheridan Kates and Giulio Ferrini will also serve on this sub-committee.

It was also agreed that all members and substitute members of the main Planning Committee can act as substitute members for the sub-committees. The quorum for each sub-committee has been set at three councillors.

The committee also formally approved the minutes of its previous meeting held on April 21, 2026.
