Two local organisations, Man & Boy and Voices of Hope, have been awarded Neighbourhood Community Grants of £3,000 each by the Kingston and North Kingston Neighbourhood Committee.
The grants were approved at a meeting on Thursday, 3 July 2025, where the committee discussed various community and traffic-related issues.
Man & Boy will use the funding to support their 2025 Inclusive Activities Programme, which provides activities and mentoring for families who have experienced relationship breakdown. Tom, Grants Manager at Man and Boy, explained that the funding would support their core work impacting men and boys through camps, activities, and the Climate Connect course.
Voices of Hope will use the grant to support their BRITE Box project, which delivers weekly meal kits with recipes and fresh ingredients to primary school children from low-income families. Marianna Gales, project lead for Bright Box, said the grant would support nine new families at King Athelstan Primary School.
Councillor Farshid Sadr-Hashemi endorsed Bright Box, noting that he had been using his councillor funds to support the organisation for three years and had seen the success of the scheme firsthand. Councillor Susan Skipwith supported the project but suggested that Voices of Hope should seek funding from other sources, such as NHS integrated care boards.
The committee also addressed other matters, including parking regulations for the Cambridge Road Estate and objections to a traffic management order on Rowlls Road. These issues will be covered in separate reports.
