Islington Executive members have approved a series of appointments to outside bodies for the upcoming municipal year 2026/27, aiming to ensure the council's representation and participation in various joint committees, investment vehicles, and other organisations.
The appointments, made during the Executive meeting on Thursday, 25 June 2026, see Councillor Saiqa Pandor appointed to the Associated Joint Committee – London Councils' Grants Committee, with Councillor Una O'Halloran serving as her deputy. Councillor Pandor, who is the Executive Member for Communities and Partnerships, will be involved in the London Boroughs Grants Scheme for voluntary organisations, a scheme that invests £6m a year on behalf of all London councils to improve the lives of London's residents, workers, and visitors.
Councillor Paul Convery will represent the council at shareholder meetings of the London Collective Investment Vehicle (London LGPS CIV Limited). This vehicle has replaced the Pensions CIV Sectoral Joint Committee and aims to enable the council to benefit from significant savings achieved through collective investment in the Local Government Pensions Scheme (LGPS).

These include representatives for the Angel Business Improvement Board, Archway Town Centre Management Board, and Cross River Partnership.
Islington Council will also be represented on several NHS trusts and charitable foundations. Councillor Troy Gallagher has been appointed to Moorfields Eye Hospital NHS Foundation Trust for a three-year term, and to the Cripplegate Foundation for a four-year term, also serving as deputy for the Cripplegate Foundation. Councillor Ruth Hayes will represent the council on North London NHS Foundation Trust for an unspecified term and St Luke's Trustee Ltd for a four-year term. Councillor Kiran Prasad has been appointed to the Clerkenwell Charities and St Sepulchre United Charities for four-year terms, and also to St Luke's Trustee Ltd for a four-year term. Councillor Kane Emerson will join Councillor Kiran Prasad on the Cripplegate Foundation for a four-year term. Councillor Claire Zammit and Councillor Saiqa Pandor have been appointed to Islington United Charities for a two-year term, and Councillor Zammit will also represent the council on Sadlers Wells Foundation for a three-year term. Councillor Martin Klute has been appointed to St Sepulchre United Charities for a four-year term. Councillor Bossman-Quarshie will represent the council on YMCA London City and North for a three-year term. Appointments for Finsbury Park Trust and Richard Reeves Foundation are to be advised.
A school governor nomination was also approved, with Joseph Michael Kelen appointed to the Thornhill and Laycock Federation Governing Body for a four-year term.
These appointments are crucial for the council's engagement with external organisations and its commitment to collaborative working across the region. There are no specific financial implications associated with these appointments, beyond any expenses that may be incurred from a Member's travel to and from a meeting outside of the borough. The council's contribution to the London Councils' Grants Committee fund is agreed through the budget process.
