Brent Council is set to increase the number of enforcement officers in the borough, aiming to tackle issues such as fly-tipping and antisocial behaviour.
Councillor Krupa Sheth, Cabinet Member for Public Realm & Enforcement, confirmed the plans during a recent Council meeting in response to a question from Councillor Chan. We have already drastically increased the amount of enforcement officers we have, we're now at a total of 17, and I'm looking to increase this even more, even further including CCTV,
said Councillor Sheth. She also mentioned the council already does night patrols during the summer and is looking to increase those shifts and time them differently with more enforcement officers.
The move comes as Brent Council aims to maintain a zero-tolerance approach to those who tarnish our streets. The council has already increased fines for fly-tipping by 30% and is using ENCIL for more CCTV. The council also runs community skips.
The increase in enforcement officers is part of a broader effort to keep Brent clean and safe, addressing concerns raised by residents about street cleanliness and antisocial behaviour. The council hopes that a greater presence of enforcement officers will deter environmental offences and improve the overall quality of life for residents.
