Croydon Council's Scrutiny Children & Young People Sub-Committee is set to scrutinise the borough's flood risk management strategies, alongside other key environmental challenges. The topic was identified as a significant priority for the administration and a key area requiring an agenda item during the committee's recent meeting.

During discussions on the Scrutiny Work Programme for 2026-27, councillors highlighted flood risk management and flood alleviation as a crucial area for future review. This focus comes as the council aims to address potential environmental challenges and ensure the safety and resilience of the borough.

Beyond flood risk, the council is anticipating challenges related to Tree mapping due to the lack of a borough-wide map. Clarity on the publication of the detailed work plan for the Climate Action Plan has also been requested. Furthermore, Enforcement was suggested for multiple sessions, with a focus on fly-tipping and abandoned vehicles . Air pollution was also proposed as an item for scrutiny.
