Croydon Council is set to assess the impact and future of its 'Blitz Cleans' programme, a key item identified for scrutiny in the upcoming municipal year. The review aims to understand what worked well, what we perhaps can do better, and then to plan in how we're going to address that in the next four years.

Work is currently underway to review the previous four years of the Blitz Cleans programme. This review is intended to inform future decisions and is expected to be presented to the Cabinet in due course. The review will be a fairly comprehensive review of the entire approach, essentially from how do we engage with essentially residents businesses? How are different elements of Blitz Cleans developed? And then thinking through to, is it a one size fits all approach, which is very much what's been done to date? Or should there be an element of, you know, in certain areas of the borough, is there more of a fly tipping issue and therefore we want to focus more on there? Whereas in other places, maybe graffiti and therefore more resource there.

The review aims to be comprehensive, examining aspects such as resident and business engagement, the development of different elements of Blitz Cleans, and whether a one-size-fits-all approach remains appropriate. The review will also consider focusing resources on specific issues like fly-tipping or graffiti in different areas of the borough.

One specific area of focus for the review is resident and business engagement. One of the specific items that was raised last year was the engagement from businesses and local residents and both, you know, how they felt about them, but also, you know, what measures the Council had taken to involve them in it and the future pieces around it.

This comprehensive assessment will delve into the various elements of Blitz Cleans that have been developed over the years to understand their effectiveness and potential for future adaptation. The ultimate goal is to refine the programme to better serve the diverse needs of Croydon's communities.
