Hackney Council has approved plans for new co-living and residential units at 1-2 Furrow Lane, E9 6JS. The council's Planning Sub-Committee, meeting on Thursday, July 2, 2026, granted planning permission for the demolition of existing garage buildings and the construction of a part-three, part-four storey building at the Furrow Lane site.

The development will comprise one supported co-living unit, intended to operate as short-term accommodation for people experiencing homelessness, managed by a charity to help residents transition into permanent housing solutions. Tenancy durations are expected to range between six and twelve months, with each resident supported by a structured move-on plan. This unit is expected to accommodate up to four individuals.

Alongside the co-living unit, the plans include eight self-contained residential units, which are proposed to be occupied as affordable housing. The development also features associated shared amenities and community uses.

The development is proposed as a car-free development, with provisions for cycle parking, refuse and recycling storage, and associated landscaping. The site benefits from a PTAL rating of 6a, indicating excellent access to public transport.
