Tower Hamlets' Quit Right
smoking cessation service has achieved a success rate of 56%, exceeding the national average and helping over 1,800 residents to quit smoking. The service's success rate of 56% is higher than the England average of 53.6%. This was highlighted by Councillor Sabina Akhtar, Cabinet Member for Health, Caring and Inclusive Communities, during a Health and Adult Scrutiny Sub Committee meeting on Monday, July 6, 2026.
The Quit Right Tower Hamlets
service supported 1,827 successful quits, with a particular focus on priority groups. The service reported strong outcomes among BAME residents, manual workers, and individuals with mental health conditions.
Specifically, the service reported:
- 1,129 quits in BAME residents
- 1,224 quits among manual workers
- 495 quits among people with mental health conditions
