Redbridge Council has confirmed its continued participation in a regional fostering recruitment service, a move aimed at boosting the number of foster carers across the borough.
The decision was made during a Cabinet meeting on Thursday, 16 July 2026, where councillors approved the continuation of the service, with Waltham Forest continuing as the lead authority.
This regional approach aims to streamline the process of recruiting, assessing, and supporting foster carers, ultimately leading to more stable and suitable placements for children in care.
The Cabinet also agreed to delegate authority to the Executive Director of Children Services to progress the expansion of this vital service, ensuring timely implementation and adaptation to evolving programme requirements from the Department for Education.
This initiative is part of a wider national reform effort to find more foster homes for children, highlighting Redbridge's commitment to improving outcomes for its most vulnerable young residents.
