Tower Hamlets Council has saved approximately £1.3 million on insurance claims in the 2025/26 financial year, according to the annual insurance report presented to the Audit Committee.
The report detailed that out of 231 claims received, 134 were repudiated, resulting in the significant saving.
Cheryl Williams, the Council's Insurance Manager, presented the findings, highlighting the value for money provided by the Council's insurance function through a combination of self-insurance and external catastrophe cover. The Council's insurance provision stands at £4.2 million and its reserve for self-insurance is £8.3 million, supported by actuarial reviews.
