Islington Council is set to fund a specialist immigration service as part of a broader initiative to support vulnerable residents.
The decision was made during an Executive meeting on Thursday, 30 July 2026, where councillors approved the acceptance of funding from the Greater London Authority (GLA) for two key projects under the North London Housing Partnership. The meeting's public reports pack can be found here.
Among the approved funding allocations is £659,136 for a Specialist Immigration Service. This service aims to provide crucial support to individuals navigating complex immigration matters. Alongside this, a Multi-Disciplinary Hub will also receive £1,323,256 in funding.
Councillor Jason Jackson, Executive Member for Homes and Neighbourhoods, described the funding as even more good news
and an amazing partnership
for tackling homelessness and supporting residents.
The North London Housing Partnership, which Islington Council has hosted for 12 years, received a total of £3,610,232 from the GLA's Ending Homelessness Accelerator Programme. This funding will support various initiatives, including the Multi-Disciplinary Hub and the Specialist Immigration Service, until March 2027.
The partnership, comprising Islington, Barnet, Camden, Enfield, Haringey, and Westminster councils, has a strong track record in delivering housing and homelessness initiatives. The funding aims to accelerate efforts to end homelessness in London by providing prevention, support, and rehousing services.
