Hackney Council has established an Appointments Sub Committee to oversee the recruitment of a new Executive Director for Adults Health & Integration. The committee met on Wednesday, August 5, 2026, to formalise its terms of reference and set up the sub-committee.

Councillor Rachel Nkiessu-Guifo was elected as Chair of the Appointments Sub Committee, with Mayor Zoë Garbett serving as Vice Chair. The sub-committee, which also includes Councillors Izzy Castello-Cortes, Florence Schechter, George Sheldon Grün, and Robert Chapman, will be responsible for the recruitment process for the key role.

The Appointments Committee itself confirmed its terms of reference and its own Chair and Vice Chair for the municipal year 2026/27. Councillor Nkiessu-Guifo, who is also the Cabinet Member for Inclusive Economy, Skills, High Streets and Markets (Dalston), will lead the sub-committee.

Details regarding the recruitment and selection activities for the Executive Director position were discussed in an exempt session, meaning the press and public were excluded from this part of the meeting. This decision was made on the grounds that it is likely, in view of the nature of the business to be transacted, that were members of the public to be present, there would be a disclosure of exempt business as defined in paragraphs 1 and 2 of Part 1 of schedule 12A of the Local Government Act 1972, as amended.
