Hackney Council's Housing and Homelessness Scrutiny Commission has begun a review of the council's approach to supporting boat dwellers.
The commission, which met on Tuesday 8 September 2026, added Boat Dweller Advocacy & Support
to its work programme for the upcoming year. This inclusion signifies a commitment to examining how individuals living on boats can access essential services, including housing, welfare, and health support, as well as vital utilities like water and waste management.
