Hackney Council's Standards Committee convened on 8 July 2025, to review councillor conduct, including member use of ICT, as part of its ongoing efforts to maintain high ethical standards. The committee's responsibilities include the ability to conduct hearings into allegations of breaches of the Councillor Code of Conduct and to determine sanctions, as well as to consider applications for dispensation to councillors and co-opted Members.
The Standards Committee, responsible for promoting and maintaining high ethical standards within the council, addressed several key items during the meeting held at Hackney Town Hall.
The committee consists of Deputy Mayor Anntoinette Bramble (Chair), Councillor Ian Rathbone (Vice-Chair), Councillor Soraya Adejare, Councillor Jasmine Martins, Councillor Joseph Ogundemuren, Councillor Sheila Suso-Runge, Councillor Claudia Turbet-Delof, Councillor Jessica Webb, Feryal Ertan (Independent Person to Standards Committee), Nicola Hanns (Co-Optee), and Aoife Scannell (Co-Optee). Membership of the committee is appointed in accordance with political balance at Full Council. The Chair and Vice Chair of this committee is appointed at Full Council.

One of the key items on the agenda was a report on compliance regarding member use of ICT.
The committee also considered the minutes of the previous meeting held on 17 February 2025, which included a discussion of the government consultation on strengthening the standards and conduct framework for local authorities.
