Islington councillors have raised concerns about the pricing of electric vehicle (EV) charging points and parking charges, questioning whether current policies inadvertently encourage EV ownership over not driving at all.
During a meeting, councillors noted that EV charging charges are significantly lower than those for internal combustion engine cars. Councillor Giulio Ferrini suggested that the council is exploring potential changes to parking charges, including considering vehicle weight, and is working with other boroughs on this issue.
