Hammersmith and Fulham Council has acknowledged the need for improvements in its adult social care services, following a professional assessment and a Care Quality Commission (CQC) assessment. The need for improvements was highlighted during a recent meeting of the Health and Adult Social Care Policy and Accountability Committee (HASC PAC).
The committee convened to discuss an update on the Adult Social Care transformation programme. The acknowledgement of required improvements in Adult Social Care took centre stage.
According to the report pack provided to the committee1, the assessments and engagement recognise that Adult Social Care requires improvement. Feedback has indicated the strengths of Adult Social Care in listening and engaging with residents, however, it also recognises that implementation has been slow, and the priority is now to ensure that coproduction becomes an active process that delivers tangible outcomes.
To ensure continuous incorporation of residents' and service users' voices, officers are progressing the establishment of a new Partnership Board, which is being developed in collaboration with community and statutory stakeholders. The board will take a whole system approach, from prevention to longer term support, supporting enabling residents to live and age well in the borough.

The report pack identifies the following priority workstreams:

The report pack includes a presentation that sets out how the council wants to help people to be independent and in control of their life, and to maximise their full potential.
