Shadow Premises Licence

A licence that mirrors an existing premises licence, intended to take effect when the primary licence ceases to operate. A protective measure for landlords to maintain their licensing position should a tenant's licence lapse. A type of licence held by a freeholder on the same terms as a tenant's existing premises licence, to protect the landlord's licensing position. A licence granted to one party, typically the freeholder, when another party already holds a licence for the same premises, often to protect the freeholder.
