Lewisham Council's Main Grants Programme, from which Montage Theatre Arts previously sought endorsement, was recalibrated in January 2026 to focus on community infrastructure. The council's Mayor and Cabinet made this decision on 21 January 2026, following a presentation by Councillor Sakina Sheikh, Cabinet Member for Culture, Communities, Libraries and Sports.
Montage Theatre Arts, a theatre arts organisation, had previously applied for transition grants from the Main Grants Programme, seeking endorsement rather than direct funding. The recalibrated programme aims to empower local organisations through a community infrastructure model.
