London Nautical School is seeking a temporary home as it awaits the completion of a two-year rebuild project.
The City of London Corporation's Education Board has been informed of the significant challenge in finding suitable temporary accommodation for London Nautical School during its rebuild. The Chief Financial and Operating Officer for the City of London Academies Trust highlighted the urgent need for approximately 80,000 square feet or an acre of empty land during a recent Education Board meeting.
The school, which is undergoing a significant rebuild funded by the Department for Education, is based in Lambeth, south of the river near Blackfriars Bridge. The rebuild project is expected to transform the heritage building and provide new accommodation.
Members of the Education Board were asked to appeal to their professional and personal networks to identify potential sites for the temporary accommodation. The appeal specifically mentioned looking for stalled developments or unused land that could be utilized for the school's needs over the two-year period.
The Chief Financial and Operating Officer expressed the difficulty in finding a suitable location, stating that the Trust is really struggling.
They emphasized the importance of finding a space for a socially important cause and encouraged anyone with connections to potential sites to come forward.
Discussions also touched upon exploring options with the National Landlords Association (NLA) to see if they could assist in finding suitable premises for the school.
