Bexley Council's Public Cabinet has approved the commencement of procurement processes for several key services, including security services for parks and facilities management.
The decision, made at the Public Cabinet meeting on Wednesday, 21 October 2026, will see the council seek new providers for these essential services, many of which are due to expire in the coming years. The move aims to enhance transparency and ensure value for money in contracts exceeding £250,000.
Among the services set for procurement are security services for parks and facilities management, with the current contract with Ward Security (Response) Ltd, valued at approximately £0.340m per annum, expiring on 31 March 2027. The proposed new contract includes options for modernisation through technology, such as body-worn cameras and digital reporting, and the potential for Fixed Penalty Notice enforcement.
Councillor David Leaf, Leader of the Council, emphasised the importance of these procurements in delivering the council's corporate plan and ensuring services are modern, efficient, and meet the needs of Bexley residents. The new procurement processes are expected to commence within the next six months.
