A comprehensive review of the Barbican Estate's car parks, storage facilities, and cycle provision is underway, with a report expected by the end of 2026.

The review, commissioned and funded by the City Corporation and led by Arup, aims to assess current usage and identify future management and use options for these key assets. It will consider resident needs, including parking demand, storage requirements, and cycle facilities, alongside opportunities to improve space utilisation and functionality. The review will also examine the long-term financial sustainability of the estate, addressing current financial challenges or opportunities related to these facilities.

Specific criteria for assessing current usage will focus on parking demand, storage requirements, and cycle facilities, with a view to understanding capacity and utilisation rates. Potential future management and use options are also being considered as part of this assessment.

Any recommendations will need to balance resident amenity with operational requirements and potential income opportunities, supported by appropriate technical and financial assessments.

Arup has already met with the Biker User Group (BUG) and undertaken three site visits. The final report is anticipated before the end of 2026 and will provide an evidence base for considering potential improvements and future options. Resident feedback beyond the Biker User Group will be incorporated through the consideration of resident needs, including parking demand, storage requirements and cycle facilities.
