Blackheath is gearing up for its annual fireworks display, with updates discussed at the Blackheath Joint Working Party meeting on Tuesday, 15 July 2025. The meeting, which was held remotely, included an update on the popular event, which draws large crowds to the area each year.
The agenda for the meeting also included discussions on the events calendar, a review of a public meeting, updates to the events policy, a written update on the local nature recovery strategy, and the scheduling of meeting dates for 2026. Local nature recovery strategies are a new system of spatial strategies for nature, introduced by the Environment Act 2021. The public reports pack provided further information for attendees.
Attendees at the meeting included Councillor Mariam Lolavar (Cabinet Member Health, Adult Social Care and Borough of Sanctuary), Cllr Pauline Dall, Councillor Leo Fletcher (Chair of Housing and Neighbourhoods Scrutiny Panel), Cllr Amanda De Ryk, Councillor Christine St. Matthew-Daniel, Cllr Luke Warner, Joe Beale, Philip Craig, Meg Dinkeldein, Gerry Kiefer, Mike Norton, Helen Reeves, Susan Taylor, David Walker, Vincent Buchanan, Rob Goring from the Royal Borough of Greenwich, Gemma Marston, and Janine Whittaker also from the Royal Borough of Greenwich.
The Blackheath fireworks event is a highlight of the year for many, and the Joint Working Party's update ensures preparations are underway for another successful display.
