Harrow Council is set to temporarily relocate its council chamber to the Brethren's Meeting Hall on The Ridgeway, North Harrow. This move, approved by the Planning Committee on Wednesday, 23 July 2025, will see the hall used as a council chamber, registry office, and ancillary office space for a period of five years.
The decision follows the Planning Committee's approval of a change of use application, detailed in the Public Reports Pack.

During the meeting, Councillor Peymana Assad raised a question regarding the potential for amplified sound within the meeting hall. Officers responded by clarifying that a condition had been implemented as a precautionary measure to safeguard residential amenity.
Security was also a key consideration. Councillor Nitin Parekh voiced concerns about entry systems, and officers reassured him that Harrow Council security staff would be responsible for managing the site. Councillor Parekh also enquired about controlling the number of attendees at events; officers confirmed that the anticipated numbers would remain within the building's capacity. Additionally, he asked about covenants on the land, with officers clarifying that covenant issues fall outside the scope of planning control.
The proposal to adapt the Brethren's Meeting Hall includes provision for 10 cycle parking spaces.
