Greenwich Council is seeking a new Director of Communications and Community Engagement to enhance public trust and participation across its diverse communities. The Appointments Panel convened on Tuesday, 2 September 2025, to interview candidates for the key role.
The Director will be the organisational lead for communications and community engagement,
responsible for shaping and executing the council's communications strategy in alignment with its overarching objectives, according to the Public Reports Pack. A core component of this will be ensuring that the council's communications and community engagement approach is innovative and inclusive.
Key responsibilities include:
- Developing and implementing communication and community engagement strategies.
- Leading internal and external communications.
- Managing community engagement initiatives.
- Ensuring innovative and inclusive communication approaches.
- Advising the Chief Executive, Leader, Cabinet, and Council on communication matters.
- Managing the council's reputation and media relations.
The ideal candidate will possess significant experience in communications and public relations, a deep understanding of local government issues, and exceptional interpersonal skills. They should also be capable of mentoring senior staff and contributing to the council's corporate leadership.
