The North Middlesex University Hospital's (NMUH) Maternity Service remains 'inadequate' following a Care Quality Commission (CQC) inspection in December 2024, the Enfield Council's Overview & Scrutiny Committee heard on Monday, 8 September 2025.
The Healthy and Safe Communities Scrutiny Panel received an update on the progress made against the action plan put in place following the CQC's rating. Heather Gallagher, Interim Director of Midwifery, and Prof Lenny Byrne, Chief Nurse from NMUH NHS Trust, provided the update to the panel.
The update was part of a broader discussion on the Healthy and Safe Communities Scrutiny Panel's work programme for 2025/26, which also included updates on the South Street Crime Board, Safeguarding Adults Board Annual Report, adult social care, community cohesion work, and the Violence Against Women & Girls Strategy 2025-30, according to the Public reports pack.
