Kingston upon Thames council has allocated £6,346.40 from Councillor Ward Funding to provide Christmas trees in Surbiton and Tolworth this year, continuing a tradition of using CWF for festive decorations in the area.
The decision was made at a meeting of the Surbiton Neighbourhood Committee on Tuesday, 9 September 2025. The funding will provide a tree at the roundabout at Surbiton Station and another at the junction of Ewell Road and Princes Avenue in Tolworth.
The £6,346.40 allocation covers a range of costs, including the purchase and delivery of the two trees, the hire of 24 strings of LED lights for each tree, labour and installation costs, and ongoing maintenance. A ballast system will also be hired for the Tolworth tree, as there is no tree pit available at that location like there is in Surbiton.
According to the Public reports pack, the trees will be between 20 and 25 feet tall.
Councillor Alison Holt spoke in favour of the Christmas trees, noting that local businesses and residents are planning future festive events. I think it's a really good thing to do,
she said. Councillor Mariana Goncalves asked for clarification on the size of the trees, which James Keech confirmed would both be between 20 and 25 feet tall.
