Surbiton residents will see no changes to the existing parking arrangements in the Browns Road Area Permit Parking Area (PPA), the Surbiton Neighbourhood Committee decided on Tuesday. The decision follows a review and parking beat survey that indicated spare parking capacity throughout the day across the area. The current hours and days of restrictions for the Browns Road Area Permit Parking Area (PPA) are Monday to Friday, 11am-2pm.
The committee heard that while residents in Warwick Grove had previously expressed support for extending the hours and days of restrictions, changes would not significantly improve the overall parking situation.
The decision was made at the Surbiton Neighbourhood Committee meeting on Tuesday, 9 September 2025, held at Glenmore House. The committee reviewed the results of a Parking Beat Survey conducted on 24 April 2025, which showed 106 available parking spaces between 7am and 10am, and 85 available spaces between 4pm and 7pm. The survey was conducted during AM peak (7am-10am) and PM peak (4pm-7pm) to assess parking capacity during peak demand periods.
Councillor Alison Holt thanked the highways team for carrying out the additional work, noting that residents on Warwick Grove were concerned about the level of parking. She added, I'm happy to go with the recommendation now because I think we have exhausted, we've looked at the parking in the area.
The committee voted unanimously to keep the existing parking arrangement unchanged. The decision means the Browns Road Area Permit Parking Area (PPA) will continue to operate as it currently does. Residents will be informed of the committee's decision via letter after the expiry of the call-in period.
