Enfield Council's Licensing Sub-Committee has refused Avenue Club 2's application to extend its opening hours, citing concerns over the potential for negative cumulative impact on the area.
The decision was made at a meeting on Wednesday 9 April 2025, where the sub-committee considered a variation to the premises licence of Avenue Club 2, located at 4 Green Lanes. The club had applied to extend its opening hours, but the sub-committee refused the application, stating that Avenue Club 2 has not been able to show no negative cumulative impact on the licensing objectives in its application for a variation where its premises are situated.
Enfield's policy statement outlines the council's focus on the prevention of crime and disorder, public safety, and the prevention of public nuisance when making licensing decisions.
During the meeting, representatives for Avenue Club 2 detailed investments in soundproofing and proposed conditions such as no entry or exit at the back of the premises, and a prohibition on loitering or drinking alcohol off the premises.
Despite these efforts, the Licensing Sub-Committee remained unconvinced that the extended hours would not negatively impact the surrounding area. The sub-committee's decision means that Avenue Club 2 will not be able to extend its opening hours beyond what is currently permitted under its existing licence conditions.
