Lambeth Council is reviewing funding for the Myatt's Fields Depot project, raising concerns among local residents who have dedicated significant time and effort to the initiative. The council expects to provide an update on the project's future in the autumn, following the conclusion of the review.

The potential funding cut was revealed during a Lambeth Council meeting on 15 October 2025, where Councillor Paul Gadsby questioned Councillor Donatus Anyanwu, Cabinet Member for Stronger Communities, about the future of the project. Councillor Anyanwu acknowledged the financial strain on the council due to government underfunding and rising costs for essential services.

As part of our approach to managing the council's finances carefully through this period of intense distress, we are therefore reviewing all capital projects, Councillor Anyanwu said. He clarified that the review doesn't necessarily mean the project will be cancelled, but it is being considered alongside other financial commitments. He added that officers have been asked to improve communication with councillors and community organisations involved.

The Myatt's Fields Depot project aims to improve facilities at Myatt's Fields Park, a valuable green space in the borough. The project has been in development for several years, with local residents actively participating in the planning process.
