Bexley is set to expand its electric vehicle (EV) charging infrastructure with the planned installation of 90 new charging points across the borough.
The move comes as Bexley Council has been earmarked to be in the Tranche 2 round of government funding, under the LEVI bidding system, following a joint bid. The 90 new charging points are being part funded through a government grant and part by Trojan Energy. The exact amount of the government grant is not specified in the meeting documents. The announcement was made during a recent meeting of the Transport Users' Sub-Committee, where members discussed various road-related issues, including electric vehicle charging.
The new charging points will be installed on-street by Trojan Energy. These units are designed to fit flush with the footway surface, minimising obstruction and maintaining accessibility for pedestrians. Users will require a post/lance unit to connect their charging cable.
