Haringey Council has secured £5,000 from the Violence Reduction Unit (VRU) to enhance outreach support for women engaged in on-street sex work in the Fore Street area following a tragic homicide in August.
The funding from the VRU critical incident fund will be used to improve outreach support for women engaged in on-street sex work in the Fore Street area.
The allocation was revealed during a Community Safety Partnership meeting on Wednesday, 22 October 2025, where members discussed various community safety initiatives and strategic priorities.
The funding is intended to address the increased vulnerability of women working on the street in the Fore Street area, a concern highlighted in the meeting's report pack, which can be found in the Public Reports Pack.
The Community Safety Partnership also discussed Violence Against Women and Girls (VAWG) in accordance with Haringey's 2016-2026 VAWG Strategy and Labour Manifesto commitments on VAWG. The strategic priorities are a coordinated community response, prevention of domestic abuse and VAWG, provision of specialist services for victim/survivors of VAWG, and holding perpetrators of VAWG to account.
