Sydenham residents voiced their concerns about air quality at the Sydenham Assembly meeting held on Saturday, June 21, 2025. The meeting, which covered a range of local issues, dedicated a portion of its agenda to discussing the ongoing challenges of air pollution in the area.
The Sydenham Assembly meeting, a committee of Lewisham Council, also addressed the Sustainable Streets programme, updates from the Safer Neighbourhood Police Team, and community updates from local groups. Councillor questions were also on the agenda, according to the meeting agenda.
Councillor Louise Krupski, Deputy Mayor and Cabinet Member for Environment, Transport and Climate Action, led the discussion on both the Sustainable Streets programme and air quality. The Sustainable Streets programme includes a consultation on controlled parking, aiming to improve the local environment and promote sustainable transport options. Air quality monitoring, which involves measuring pollutants like nitrogen dioxide and particulate matter, is a key focus for Lewisham Council, as they work to mitigate the impact on public health and the environment.
