A new housing development has been approved for Hallsville Road in Canning Town, Newham. The Newham Council Local Development Committee greenlit the project at its meeting on 23 June 2025.

The development at 57 Hallsville Road will see the demolition of an existing building and the construction of a six-storey building. The new building will feature commercial space on the ground floor and 18 new dwellings above. These will include nine one-bedroom, two two-bedroom, and five three-bedroom units, along with cycle parking and refuse storage.

At the same meeting, the committee, including Councillor James Beckles (Local Development Committee Chair), also discussed a Section 73 application concerning land to the rear of 330 Romford Road. The application seeks to modify a condition related to a previously approved plan for emergency family accommodation. The proposed change would remove the six-week maximum stay restriction.

Additionally, the committee addressed proposals for Forest Gate Police Station, including rebuilding the fire-damaged roof, erecting a rear extension, and making revisions to the car parking and servicing areas. The application site is within the Woodgrange Estate Conservation Area and affects the setting of Emmanuel Church, a Grade II listed building.
