Forest Gate Police Station is set to undergo significant renovations, including rebuilding its fire-damaged roof. The Newham Council Local Development Committee reviewed the plans at their meeting on 23 June 2025, alongside other planning applications in the borough. The meeting's agenda included discussions on developments at Hallsville Road and Romford Road.
The proposals for Forest Gate Police Station at 350 - 360 Romford Road, also include the erection of a rear extension, new walls and fencing around the site boundaries, revisions to car parking and servicing areas, installation of a substation and switch rooms, and the removal of an existing telecoms mast. Associated landscaping and the construction of a new vehicle crossover are also planned.
The application site is located within the Woodgrange Estate Conservation Area and affects the setting of Emmanuel Church, a Grade II listed building. The Director of Planning and Development recommended approval of the application.
Other planning applications discussed at the meeting included the demolition of an existing building and erection of a new six-storey building at 57 Hallsville Road to provide commercial space and 18 new dwellings. The committee also considered a Section 73 application to modify Condition 17 on Romford Road, concerning emergency family accommodation.
