Enfield Council has debated a motion to protect the borough's Green Belt amid concerns about government plans to build a new town. The motion, proposed by Councillor Alessandro Georgiou, Leader of the Opposition and Conservative Party, at the council meeting on 12 November 2025, states that the concern stems from these government plans. Residents have reportedly expressed disappointment that the council is perceived as willing to sacrifice the Green Belt to support the government's plans.

The motion proposes that the council should work with residents to fight to save our precious Green Belt from destruction.

The meeting agenda is available to view on the council's website.
