Haringey Council is facing an increase in fly-tipping incidents, prompting a search for effective solutions. During the Quarter 1 2025/26 Performance Update, the Director of Environment explained that fly tipping had moved negatively with approximately 4,500 incidents recorded. The council is now focusing its communications and resources on areas with high incidents and bulky waste to combat the problem.
The issue was highlighted during a Culture, Community Safety & Environment Scrutiny Panel meeting on 13 November 2025, as part of a broader discussion on the council's budget and financial strategy.
During the 13 November meeting, the panel reviewed its work programme, with litter and fly-tipping identified as a potential future topic for review, according to the Work Plan 2022-26.
The council manages a contract with Kingdom, along with Violia, through weekly and monthly meetings. Fixed Penalty Notices (FPNs) are issued by Kingdom on behalf of the council and reconciled against monthly monitoring.
