Round 7 of the Greenwich Neighbourhood Growth Fund (GNGF) is now open, offering £1 million for community-led projects across the borough. The fund, which makes 15% of Community Infrastructure Levy (CIL) income available for local projects, launched on 18 September 2025. Since Borough CIL was introduced in 2015, a total of £66,026,665 has been collected, broken down as £36,124,423 for Mayoral CIL (MCIL) and £29,909,941 for Borough CIL (BCIL).
The GNGF provides grants for local projects, such as park improvements, sports training, disabled toilets, and public realm/art projects. Details of all funded projects from previous rounds can be viewed on the Council website.
The amount available in Round 7 is significantly higher than in previous rounds. According to the Infrastructure Funding Statement 2024–2025, the amounts available in rounds 1-6 were:
- Round 1: £259,825
- Round 2: £542,480
- Round 3: £640,560
- Round 4: £515,709
- Round 5: £331,756.59
- Round 6: £542,463
In FY2024/25, £772,654 of neighbourhood CIL was collected.
CIL is a charge which can be levied by local authorities on new development in their area. The money is used to fund a wide range of infrastructure improvements to support the growth of the area.
In 2024/25, £6,525,102 was demanded from 47 CIL notices, with £1,142,356 in CIL relief granted. This relief is allowed by the CIL Regulations for charitable relief, social housing relief, self-build and residential annexes.

To date £12.5m of BCIL has been spent, with a further £12.9m committed to deliver a SEND primary school and satellite provision (£6.5m) alongside further investment in highway and public infrastructure works over the MTFS period (£6.37m).
