Forest Hill residents are objecting to a proposed development at 29 Wynell Road, where an existing building would be demolished to make way for an eight-flat building. The Lewisham Council's Planning Committee A discussed the application, reference number DC/25/138946, at their meeting on 24 June 2025, after receiving more than 10 objections.
The proposed four-storey building includes associated cycle and refuse storage, solar panels, landscaping, and boundary treatment. The site is close to Forest Hill Station but has a low Public Transport Accessibility Level (PTAL) score of 2. A report prepared for the meeting noted potential surface water drainage concerns.
Residents voiced concerns including overdevelopment, loss of daylight and sunlight, loss of privacy, increased flood risk, and strain on existing infrastructure. The meeting agenda shows that Councillors Peter Bernards, John Paschoud, and Dawn Atkinson were among those in attendance.
Despite the objections, the report stated that the principle of development is supported, subject to material considerations. It also noted that the delivery of eight residential units would represent a significant planning benefit, optimising a highly accessible site and contributing to local housing supply.
