Islington Council's Employment and Appointments Committee has approved a shortlist of candidates for the crucial role of Corporate Director of Resources. The decision was made during a meeting held on Monday, March 9, 2026.

This senior position is vital for supporting the council's objectives and ensuring the delivery of the Islington Together 2030 Plan. As a member of the Senior Leadership Team, the postholder will have a key role in supporting, enabling, and monitoring the delivery of this plan.

The recruitment process followed the council's established procedures, with the salary range for the post advertised between £132,823 and £159,330, to be funded from existing budgets. An Equalities Impact Assessment Screening was completed and deemed sufficient, meaning a full assessment was not required.

Interviews for the shortlisted candidates are scheduled to take place on March 19, 2026. The committee members present at the meeting were Councillor Anjna Khurana (Chair), Councillor Janet Burgess MBE, Councillor Troy Gallagher, and Councillor Flora Williamson. Councillor Una O'Halloran sent apologies for absence.

During the session, the committee also approved minutes from previous meetings held on October 14, 2025, and October 21, 2025. The minutes from the October 14, 2025 meeting confirmed apologies for absence, declared substitute members, noted no interests, and agreed the minutes of the previous meeting on June 25, 2025. The committee also resolved to approve the shortlist of candidates for the post of Director of Education and Achievement.

The minutes from the October 21, 2025 meeting similarly recorded apologies for absence, declared substitute members, and noted no interests. On this date, the committee interviewed candidates for the post of Director of Education and Achievement, resolving to appoint Simon Wellman to the post, agree the salary range, and note that the offer of employment is subject to the completion of the Executive notification procedure.
