Islington's commitment to tackling climate change has yielded positive results, with the borough seeing an improvement in its household recycling rate.

Islington's household recycling rate reached 33.9% in the first half of the 2025/26 financial year, with residual waste per household projected to hit a record low of 251kg for the year. This progress is attributed to a comprehensive communications and engagement campaign aimed at encouraging residents to recycle more and reduce contamination, alongside the rollout of food waste recycling services to more properties.
