Islington Council is set to implement a comprehensive strategy to address health inequalities across the borough, following discussions at the Health, Wellbeing and Adult Social Care Scrutiny Committee.

The committee reviewed a range of public health performance indicators, all of which highlighted the need for targeted interventions to improve health outcomes for all residents.

Key areas of focus include tackling inequalities in life expectancy, improving data insight to target communities with the highest unmet health needs, and promoting a health in all policies approach. The council also aims to reduce tobacco smoking and vaping, enhance local response capabilities to health threats, and improve education on these issues.
