Tower Hamlets is addressing vacancies in its pension administration team by developing a trainee program to maintain service levels.
The Tower Hamlets Pension Board discussed the matter at their meeting on Monday 30 June 2025, as part of a broader review of pension administration. The move aims to address the difficulty in finding experienced pensions administrators, according to officials.
Pensions Manager Raju Ahmed told the board that it is really difficult to find experienced pensions administrators
and that the council is looking at recruiting on a trainee level and having a training program
.
It was noted that there are currently vacancies in the pensions administration team, which is impacting the processing of cases. While the exact number of vacancies was not specified, the impact is being felt on key performance indicators (KPIs).
These KPIs, used to measure the effectiveness of the pension administration team, include:
- Cases at Start
- New Cases
- Cases Processed
- Cases Outstanding
