The McLeod Remedy project, a significant undertaking for Sutton Council's Pension Board, is on schedule for completion by the June 30, 2026 deadline. This critical project aims to address reforms related to the 'Fit for the Future' consultation.

During a Pension Board meeting on Thursday, March 19, 2026, Tom, Head of Pensions Administration, provided a positive update on the project's progress. Data collection for the McLeod Remedy is now 100% complete, with data validation reaching 82% and expected to be finalized by March 31.
The 'McLeod Remedy' itself involves the bulk rectification of pensioners' benefits. This means going back to when pensioners previously retired and re-checking if their benefits were calculated correctly under the scheme regulations at that time. If any discrepancies are found, the benefits will be increased as appropriate.
The project is progressing well, with the next phases involving the configuration of annual benefit statements to ensure members receive accurate information and the bulk rectification of pensioners' benefits. These tasks are anticipated to be completed by the end of June 2026.
