The Wormwood Scrubs Charitable Trust has received a prestigious BALI Principal Award for Nature Conservation and Biodiversity Enhancement, recognising the success of its eco-volunteering programme. The award, presented in December 2025, highlights the significant impact of the Trust's conservation efforts.
In 2025, the Trust's programme saw 168 volunteer sessions delivered, with 1,224 volunteers contributing a total of 5,732 hours. During these sessions, volunteers planted over 450 tree whips, managed 4,000m² of vegetation, and collected valuable ecological data. This comprehensive approach to nature conservation and biodiversity enhancement was a key factor in the award recognition.
The achievement was celebrated at the Wormwood Scrubs Charitable Trust Committee meeting held on Tuesday, 24 March 2026. The committee commended this success and extended their gratitude to Idverde/RSPB and all volunteers for their substantial contributions.
