Islington Council is set to introduce 60 new intergenerational extra-care units at Holloway Park, with approximately 60% of these units allocated to residents over the age of 55.
The decision was confirmed during a Health, Wellbeing and Adult Social Care Scrutiny Committee meeting on Monday, April 20, 2026.
Councillor Sara Hyde, Executive Member for Health and Social Care, highlighted the intergenerational nature of the Holloway Park units as a positive step, allowing more residents to remain close to their family and support networks.
Members of the committee welcomed the ongoing focus on enabling residents to maintain their independence and reducing the need for admissions into care homes.
