Greenwich Council is set to expand its cycling infrastructure by delivering 59 new cycle hangars across the borough.
The announcement was made at the Transport and Place Scrutiny Panel meeting on Thursday, 3 July 2025, where the council's transport work programme for 2025-26 was discussed. According to the Transport Work Programme Update, 39 of the cycle hangars are scheduled for delivery over the summer, with the remaining 20 expected to be in place by the end of March 2026. The council is also planning to deliver 80 bays for Lime bikes by July 2025, according to the Transport Work Programme Update.
The cycle hangar programme is part of a broader effort to promote active travel and reduce car dependency in the borough. The Active Travel Action Plan Update includes a commitment to install additional hangars on streets to meet existing demand. The delivery of Lime bike bays complements this program, offering residents and visitors more options for sustainable transportation.
